Hi everyone.

I'm actually in charge of an intranet in my school and my teachers want to forbid internet usage; that is, they don't want students to use the computers for chatting or checking e-mail. Is there a way to use some kind of password to grant the service, in case some student needs to use it?.

Thanks.

Yes, very easy
Install MS Proxy 2.0 (don't forget to use the Win2K patch to install MS Proxy)
You can set permissions based on NT accounts to allow access Peter Van Eeckhoutte

There are a number of other packages that will also allow passworded access, access based on time-of-day, location, IP, etc. MS Proxy works well, but there are alternatives in case you aren't a die-hard MS fan :)

Hi Iluvatar!

I believe that if you are running a Win 2000 Avd. Srv. and it acts as a Domain Controller and you also user Active Directory, you can set up Group Policies to tighten up what the student may see or NOT see!

Good luck!
