I am logged in as a user with permissions in the apache group.

When I go to localhost ( I get:
___

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/1.3.23 Server at localhost.localdomain Port 80
___

Also, I can't alter any files relevant to Apache unless I log in as root, even though (while root) I set up my personal user account with every permission I can (mysql, ftp, apache, etc) using linuxconf.

Any tips?

Hi mate,

Make sure that you have an index page in the root and that it has the correct extension. A common mistake is to have index.htm instead of index.html

Hope this helps Wullie

Wullie,
I do.

Additionally, at one time the prior day, mysteriously, I did not get this problem, and even navigated to a sub dir with a page built by a little php script (my mission).
