For the PIX labs, a hint or two

That's cool.
So, how did you set up the BIOS & Flash so it would boot up the IOS? ------------

It's all controlled by the Cisco Flash card. This is a little remembered trick from the old DOS days. You have to have a 2nd BIOS on the databus and if it's in the correct spot, that BIOS is loaded before anything else. In this case, it's the PIX bios which takes control of the system and boots the PIX IOS. This is Cisco's *trick* to boot the PIX off their flashcard. But it's not just the FLASH, it's also the extra BIOS extensions which are burned into some type of ROM on the card. So you can not recreate the card, you have to have an original Cisco PIX flash card.
