Sorry, folks, for the request, by name, for attention. You four are the only MVPs that have checked into this forum in the past month, so I’m hoping that you will have pity on me and respond to thread436-1431467. Once one of you has given me some definitive guidance, you are welcome to Red-flag this plea for help.

yes, i saw that thread, but unfortunately my knowledge of mysql locking is guaranteed to be less than yours

(i can say this with confidence because you likely have some non-zero experience with locking, whereas i've got none)

Thanks, R937, for responding. Your experience with MySQL is miles/kilometers ahead of mine, regardless of any experience I have with other database engines.

vacunita has also kindly responded, in the other thread itself, with good advice on how to see the names of any tables that are open with locked rows. (My product manager still need to know the identity of the "Locker", however.)

I believe I'll leave this "Request for Response" thread open, as well, until, perhaps TonyGroves and johnwm have a chance to have a "go" at the remaining portion of the problem/solution, as well.

Thanks again,

I'm no expert on the deeper mysteries, but I've just had a quick browse. It looks as if SHOW PROCESSLIST may possibly help. See
