We have a book with each chapter set as an individual thread (for formatting simplicity). However, we want the footnote numbering to run through the entire book. In Type>Document Footnote Options... we have the Restart Numbering Every selection unchecked, which I would expect would allow for the entire document to consecutively number.

The same renumbering shows if we select Restarted numbering for each section.

Thanks in advance.

So far as I know it is not possible to continue footnote numbering from story to story (i.e. thread to thread). If you want continous footnote numbering in the whole book, you either have to make whole book one story (thread) or to insert footnotes manualy (by drowing footnote frames at apropriate places). If you have long book with a lot of footnotes, it can be very tiresome. In that case I would sugest to make whole book one story and preserve some manipulations possibilities by defining Sections at apropriate places. Certanly, the possibility of having continous footnotes in multi-story documents is desideratum for the next generation of the program.

That's how I managed to solve the problem.

Let's hope that Adobe makes this happen in CS3.

Thanks much!
