Hello,
I had to get a new hard drive, and now when I try to open up one of my .CDR files (Ver. 8) it can't find certain fonts (whimsy, decotura etc.).

I saved a folder called 'psfonts' that contains .pfb and .pfm fonts (which look they might be related to the missing fonts) and have tried putting it in different directories to no avail.
(These fonts don't show up in Font Navigator)

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

You may have to reinstall those fonts from the source disk. If they do not show up in font navigator, then you do not have them on your system.

Where did the fonts come from originally? CorelDRAW has thousands of fonts on the disks, you may try looking there. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

>>You need Adobe Type Manager installed and enabled to use those fonts.<<

That depends... if they are using Win2K or XP then they do not need ATM lite as these OS's have their own T1 font management built in, using ATM lite will cause problems. However ATM Deluxe 4.1 will assist in managing TT fonts in all systems, Bitstream Font Navigator will do the same and is packaged with CorelDRAW.

It is not clear that the fonts are T1 or TT.. if they are TT then ATM lite will have no effect as it only works with T1 fonts. Font Navigator will manage both TT and T1 fonts... and will do the trick for what they want.

Gooddesign,
it is not necessary to manually move your fonts, regardless of type, from or to any directory. Use Font Navigator to install, uninstall the listed fonts. It will do all the work, and will find any fonts you have on your system. just click FILE > FIND FONTS and browse.. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Those fonts (Whimsy etc) are Type 1 fonts and I was assuming he was not using Win 2K/XP because, you are correct, it has the capability built it to handle Type 1 fonts.

I'm not sure, but I don't think Bitstream Font Navigator will show these fonts as being installed, even though they are on his hard drive, unless Adobe Type Manager has enabled them? Joe Bananas' guide to Perth, Scotland

I was not sure from the question if they were T1 or if
gooddesign assumed they might be. I guess that you know for sure they are?

You may be correct on the ATM having to enable them before Navigator will see them. I don't use ATM lite even though it is installed with Pagemaker, but all of my T1 fonts do show up with Navigator.
When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
