Hi, we are designing a piece to be offset printed and the entire font family does not appear in the font choices. For example, there is no Arial Narrow Bold, just Arial Narrow. Applying the bold attribute I know can cause problems in the printers output. How can I see all the fonts? Or if applying the attribute does Quark use the font?

I have searched the forums for an answer to this, but could not find one. please help. Thanks!!!

...you can try trashing the quark preferences file and deleting the Jaws folder inside the quark folder, the Jaws folder is rebuilt on relaunch of quark...

...double check you haven't got a font conflict in your fonts folder, it;s possible the font you are trying to use is corrupted...

...on a side note quark 6.52 windows update is available here to download:

...as Marcus Stringer has pointed out in a previous post:

==================================
Quark can Substitute faux fonts if you have the Postscript version installed regardless if it shows up in the font menu or not.

eg you can go through and make every, lets say times italic, a fake italic then PDF the job the Italics will come out, because you have the Postscript itlaic loaded on your system...

If you don't have it loaded it will turn into the nearest it can find, most likley times roman.

Have you tried typing in the font name into the measurements pallet???

Does the Italics show up in the PDF???

If it does then in Acrobat go to:
File>Document Properties and see check to see if the font are embeded.

It gets listed in InDesign because InDesign will not let you use fake fonts.
Instead of making a word Italic you have to change the font to an Italic font.
