Fonts do not display correctly in Win95/98 HELP

The fonts are displayed as squares with the odd letter and I get the following error message:
IExplore
IExplore executed an invalid instruction in module MSHTML.DLL at 015f:70c48be1

I would be grateful for any suggestions
 
No that didnt help, thanks anyway.
It happens even when you are in a browser window within the operating system say "My Computer" and the fonts on the left hand side are a mixture of text and blocks or squares.
