I have some old Word Perfect docs that are forms built on tables. When I import them into Word, the fonts are cut in half so that only the bottom half of the fonts are displayed and print. I've tried adjusting the table's row heights and cell heights, with no luck. I also tried adjusting the cell margins, still no luck. I've tried to delete that table (the document has multiple tables in it) and recreate that table, but the same thing happens on a new table.

Also, a line that was a "graphic" in Word Perfect can't be deleted. This is a twelve page HR form that I'd rather not have to recreate from scratch. Any ideas?

Hi Iolair,

Re: the line, the easiest thing is to make sure that Borders and Shadings are all set at no borders.

If that doesn't work, try with Edit-->Replace; in "Find What" type "^g" (without the " signs), and leave "Replace with" blank, then click "Replace all". This should hopefully get rid of the line and any other unwanted graphics.

Re the height of the font, I'm afraid I don't have a definite answer; try to look at Format --> Paragraph, Spacing, Before and make sure that the spacing is set at 0. Try also to look at the character spacing in Font, and the text alignment in the cells.

I'll try again tomorrow from a different computer (where I have some old word perfect files), and if I find anything better I'll let you know.

Regards,

Livia

I suspect your cells are set for a specific height and your text is bigger than that. Try making font smaller or row height larger.

As for your undeletable graphic...EVERYTHING can be deleted. Is it behind something? Can you move this graohic?

I have run into this issue. It has been awhile. But I believe it has to do with the line spacing for the paragraph (Format, Paragraph, Indents and Spacing, line spacing).

As for the graphic line, be sure you have the drawing tool bar up in Word and select the 'cursor arrow' (normally the first icon from the left). Still might be a pain to select. There used to be a way with the keyboard to go to the next graphic object. I do not remember how to do this.

I finally got this figured out - in the "Home" ribbon, under the "Styles" selection, I selected "No Spacing" instead of "Normal" and it showed the whole font.

As for the graphic, again, in the "Home" ribbon, under the "Editing" selection, I picked "Select", then "Select Objects" and it let me select the graphic line and delete it.

Thanks for all the responses. I will add them to my Word "notebook" for future reference.
