Fonts: Clear Type settings and tweaks

When I try to set Clear Type (control panel, display, appearance, effects) the fonts on my LCD screen get blurred.

The jagged edges are improved, but the characters are more blurred than they should be.

I recall seeing somewhere that there are some tweaks to take care of this by adjusting some display-specific settings, but could not find that info.

Anyone know of tweaks to improve Clear Type fuzziness?

Right click a blank area of your desktop, Properties, Appearance, Effects. Set the two available options for font appearance and smoothing to Clear Type.

Then download and use this freeware utility from Microsoft: Clear Type Tuner -
