Hi I really hope someone can help me out here. Ive recently developed and deployed a new intranet system where i work. The new system has been in place now for over 1 month. Recently i have recieved a compliant the the "fonts" are appearing srabbbled and "messy" on one particular computer. My initital thought that was perhaps that pc has been set up to now accept css stylesheets.

Are there any other possible reasons as to why this pc is having problems with the fonts when all other pcs in the company are accepting the new website fine?

Alll ur suggestions and replys are very much appreciated!

Thanks in Advance!

I know you mention PCs but they wouldnt be using a Mac with OSX and Safari would they?

My guess, if not, is that the font files on that machine are damaged or they are using a different language encoding perhaps.

Check that the computer exhibiting problems does actually have the fonts installed and they are working fine (using something like Word to confirm).

If the fonts are indeed present and correct, then indeed the user may be using their own stylesheet (you could install and test against a different browser to confirm this -- or you could navigate to the settings on their current set up and check).

It's entirely possible that the machine has been infected with a trojan/spyware that may be interfering with things (sounds odd -- but it has been the cause of several problems I have resolved recently).

Given you are in a corporate environment, it may just be easier to re-image the desktop... since whatever it is will have nothing to do with your HTML or CSS and is most probably caused by the operating system/software installed on the individual computer.

Let us know how you go!

Instead of us guessing with no real ideas about what the problem could be, why not find out what the "complainer" actually means by "messy" and "srabbbled"?

That would be the first thing I would do if faced with the same problem. Once you have that information, fixing it will be a lot easier.

You might even find that there is no problem... For example, maybe they mean that their font egedes are jagged (if anti-aliasing is not enabled on their PC, for example).
