I recently found my collection of fonts. I was really relieved as my collection contains aprox. 5,000 fonts. After installing the fonts, I opened firewoks. I am working on a project that I want to use one of these long lost fonts. My problem is this; when I open the font dropdown to select the font, The program will completely lock up after scrolling through a few of them. My question is, is there a problem with fireworks being able to handle a large font folder? Additioanlly, is there a way to solve this issue? Thank you for your help.

BTW I have tried this on multiple computers to the same effect. I assure you that the specs on the PC I am using far exceed those needed to run the program. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I should add that I am using Fireworks MX 2004.

Microsoft operating system by any chance?

I do know Microsoft has problems with you installing too many fonts, it slows the machine down, and possibly this is impacting on fireworks.
I also know that although I've added lots of fonts, only a certain number show up in my copy of fireworks, so possibly it can't handle more than a certain number- it would be an idea to check with macromedia on this.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

I cannot contact macromedia as I am not eligible for tech support. They state on their website that evaluation copies are not allowed to request support.

I am running Win XP pro. I also have Adobe Photoshop 7 which seems to have no problem with the fonts. I should mention that I have slightly over 5 thousand of them. Sure PS7 takes longer to load, but It is because it loads the fonts prior to letting you use the program. I am certain if macromedia did that there wouldn't be a problem.

In any event it is because of the first part of my responce that I seek outside (of macromedia) support.
