At work, we have Font Navigator installed to keep our ~1000 fonts under control. I try and keep the number of active fonts to less than 400 (as Windows 98 seems to prefer). Recently my boss purchased a new font needed for a particular client. The font was downloaded from the internet, after which we had a few problems getting it to successfully install.

But now, every time the computer is restarted, ALL the fonts have become active, and I am unable to start Pagemaker as a result. I have to manually go through the list of fonts and deactivate them. Needless to say, this is a pain.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Although no-one had any suggestions here, I seem to have stumbled across what may be a solution. If you click on the Windows>Fonts folder in Explorer, all the fonts are re-activated. It seems as though the deactivated fonts are still retained in the Fonts folder, but somehow Navigator manages to 'hide' them from the operating system. So the solution is to NEVER open up the Fonts folder in Win Explorer, or all the fonts are re-activated.
