Font issues between CR V7 & CR V8

I have a report which was created in Version 7 of Crystal Reports. I have changed the font for all fields in the report to a new font, requested by the client. Although all fields on the report are supposed to be the same font, the text for some fields appears smaller than others. If I select 'No Printer', in Printer Setup, everything looks fine in Preview, which would state that I have a problem with my printer drivers. However, if I open the report in CR Version 8 and preview the report, all fields are the correct size for the font specified and I have no issues printing the report correctly.
Before anyone says, why do I not use Version 8, the client uses Version 7 DLLs to run a whole host of reports and it would not be feasible to convert all reports to use Version 8 DLLs.

CR 8 has default fonts which may be set differently than the CR7 fonts.

Do you create the reports in CR 7 or CR8?

Using an additional non standard font. Reports were created in Version 7 or possibly an even earlier version.
