Font issue when exporting to PDF

I am exporting a report from Crystal into PDF. At this point the font is searchable. For printing purposes, we are being asked to save the report as PostScript (.ps) and then run it through the Adobe distiller using Press Quality. After this the font is no longer searchable. The report is quite long and must be searchable. I have the same fonts loaded on my development machine (where report was created) as my local machine (where report is being distilled), but Adobe does not seem to recognize the font metadata as Crystal exports it. Has anyone had experience with this?
