Font coding displaying on email disclaimer

How do I set up my outgoing email disclaimers set up such that they do not show some font coding? Users who use rtf format do not see the coding but users who receive email in Plain text do - my font codes show Arial/Times New Roman~ before my Disclaimer starts. This is annoying to our users so we have had to remove the disclaimer at the present time. Please help.
