Follow-up question regarding CLID

OK, I have 2 CLID table entries. As far as I can tell, they are exactly the same except for the ESA_HLCL.

ENTRY 0
HNTN
ESA_HLCL 226
ESA_INHN NO
ESA_APDN YES
HLCL 407226XXXX
DIDN NO
HLOC
LSC
CLASS_FMT DN

ENTRY 3
HNTN
ESA_HLCL
ESA_INHN NO
ESA_APDN YES
HLCL 1888XXXXXXX
DIDN NO
HLOC
LSC
CLASS_FMT DN

If I put a set in entry 0 the called party sees exactly what I would expect - COMPANY NAME plus 407XXXXXXX

If I put that same set into table 3, the called party sees TOLL FREE NUMBER plus 1888XXXXXXX

What part of my entry is changing the COMPANY NAME part to TOLL FREE NUMBER? My provider is having trouble understanding what I'm asking and I'm sure it's because I'm not asking it right...

I want entry 3 to show COMPANY NAME plus 1888XXXXXXX

But hey, at least I got the number part to show up on caller ID.

The provider sent me a CNAM change form but I don't think I want to change my COMPANY NAME in the database - I just want this CLID entry to display what is already in the database instead of the TOLL FREE NUMBER text...

Am I dreaming? is it that ESA_HLCL setting? That 226 is the exchange for the local number we send...

this is not a dream.. if it is would someone wake me up.

the name is not in your database.. when we send clid to the network they marry clid to a name in the ss7 table.. somewhere in the pstn each of those clids are paired.

your provider may be use to ani for names and ali for address (911).. if you enl msgi x on the d you will see that your not sending names to the network.

btw, ss7 is a national database.. i live in the 864 but work in the 803.. if i spoof my clid to show may home number from my work phone.. when i call out my name is displayed.. the same would be true from any pstn stateside

some area's now offer name display to the did.. you can send ld 95 entries to the ss7.. we don't have it here but some areas do

OK - so COMPANY NAME is in this national database.
When I make a call, my provider matches ???? to an entry in the database and the called party sees the digits I sent and the NAME from the ss7 database.

Is the ???? based on what I send (the digits) or is it info from somewhere else?

What I think is happening is: I make a call, my set is in group 0, the digits I send are 407226XXXX so those digits get matched to an entry in the ss7 database and that entry says COMPANY NAME.

BUT if I use a different CLID table and send 1888 instead of 407XXX the ss7 doesn't have an entry for 1888 so it just says TOLLFREE NUMBER because it recognizes the 888 as toll free.

So I need my provider to change something so that my 888 number gets recognized as us?

Because they keep telling me they can't do that with a toll free number but at the same time they tell me they don't care what numbers I send...I think they think that I think I am calling out on a TOLLFREE line so but I know I am not - that's just incoming - all my outgoing calls are on my provider's PRIs and so I would think it shouldn't be hard for them to tag everything coming from me as my COMPNAY NAME...

"Yeah, well, some

your right.. we do exactly that.. all calls 803 434 +4 display company name.. your provider should be able to do that

Thanks John. They just told me today that the national database will not recognize my 1888 number. The 407 numbers are fine but they can't do anything about toll free numbers. No matter what they do, if I send an 888 number it's getting tagged with TOLLFREE NUMBER for caller ID purposes.

I was told the same thing about a year ago, they can not change the name on Toll Free #'s.
