BTW when I press the button that is programmed for SD to 474-1161 the set picks up an available line, that is ok, but then it must wait about a good 5 seconds after it gets dial tone.

Is there any way for it to dial out without that long 5 second pause of dial tone?

Well, aer you saying it takes 5 seconds before it dials, or 5 seconds before it connects, after it dials?

If it is the latter, I would put a POUND after the SD number.

Otherwise, I am not sure.

After you touch the SD button a line is picked up then there is a 5 second pause then Merlin dials the number.

So you are saying that if I enter 474-1161# Merlin immedialty dial this number as soon as it grabs a line and hears dial tone? No 5 second delay?

Is the # used to signal to Merlin that "this is the end of the numebr string so go ahead and dial"?

I also notice that once in a while I have to press # twice whe n dialing outside calls.

Get an outside line FIRST, then press the speed dial button.

The # is used along with a 2digit code for personal or system speed dialing.

If you need to send a # to the far end, you press # twice to send a single #
