Hi

Does anyone have a clue as to why the Follow Up flags in Outlook mail never alert my users when the FU time arrives? For example...if I set a Red Follow up flag on an email and set it to the next day at 10AM...it never pops an alert. Is this a bug in Outlook? We are using Outlook 2000.

TIA,

P'

Same thing here .... and I know this works, because I've used it at other locations. I'm now trying to set up follow-up date/times for emails, and when the time elapses nothing happens.

I'll keep on looking and will post an answer if I find one.

Just did another search on the net, and may have found the answer. Looks like the ability to have a reminder pop-up (for a follow-up) may not be built in to Outlook. I found a company that sells this feature as an Outlook plug-in ...

I still hope this is achievable without plugins, though. If anyone knows how, please let us know.

Hi David

Thnx for the info. Seems pretty lame that MS would put this option in the Outlook email message itself and then not support it. But then again.....it is MS.

Thnx Again

Yet another note ...

I found out that the pop-ups are actually supposed to work just fine. The following link describes a few steps to follow if it doesn't.

The only catch is (and this is one of the DUMBEST things I've seen MS do so far) - your follow-up reminders will only work if they are set on an email that resides in your primary folder (i.e. the folder into which Outlook puts your incoming mail). If you move it elsewhere, the reminder will not show up. Go figure. To get around this, I guess you need a 3rd party piece of software.

I'll be trying a couple and will let you know what I find.

Last thing - I had a collegue try the reminders and they were not working for him either. Then he noticed that he was accidentally setting the time for PM instead of AM, and that corrected it. It didn't fix my problem, though, but you never know; maybe you're going through an AM/PM mixup as well?

Thanks again for the follow-up. I'll certainly check out the link. And no...no AM PM issue. I actually thought that might be the problem too at one point. :))

Stardate 2005.06.15.16.26, ensign David, final entry.

I followed the steps in the Outlookpower link I supplied above, and the last one did it for me.

I had to create a new pst file, move all my email/contacts/appts to it (right now it's kept on the server), have the mailbox recreated, and then move everything back. It works just fine now, although the reminders do appear up to a minute late sometimes. I guess they are not "realtime" reminders.

The Inbox limitation is still there.

I hope you figure your problem out ...

All the best,
.DaviD.
