XP SP3. Everytime I open a folder on my desktop I get a pop up screen that says please wait while adobe configures adobe. It appears to be trying to install adobe and then finally opens the folder. It only happens on folders on the desktop including icons(my computer etc.) Please help. Thanks.

suggestion:

uninstall Adobe Reader, install CCleaner, run a clean up job with CCLeaner, run a Registry scan with CCleaner, reboot a few times (may sound redundant but can't hurt), then download Adobe Reader again and install it...

if you have other Adobe products intalled, uninstall all of them, and reinstall them after you have done the above...

How to ask a question, when posting them to a professional forum.
Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

Does it happen with every user, or another user if you create one?

What is it like from Safe Mode?
