Hi all
A M8 has an Acer Aspire 1355LC laptop running WinXP Home SP2
When he boots up and try's to open a folder or open a Word file, initially it takes ages (up to 30 sec's)

But after this they open very quickly !

This is a Athlon XP-M 2600+ with 256MB of DDR SDRAM so surely it should fly?

Have Cleaned up, Defragged & Scanned it
Have run Ad-Aware SE, AV scanned (Panda)

Does any one have any ideas ?

Hi linney
Thank you for your prompt reply

I did find some of those links whilst searching the site

But it was your suggestion to try turning the Virus software that bore most fruit !

It does look like the "Panda Titanium AV 2004" seems to be at the root of the problem, will suggest a change of AV software

Many THX

Many Virus Scanners have the option to change the Real Time scanning to just the recommended Default Files (instead of all files) which is probably adequate as long as you run the On Demand scanning set for All Files.
