Hi everyone,

I am fairly new to Linux/Unix language. I know basic commands and have never written a script. I am currently in need of a solution for downloading a directory which is sat on a hosted Linux server.

I have been given root access to the machine and I can ssh into it. I have Cygwin installed on a pc and was wondering if anyone will give me a few pointers of how I would go about creating, saving and scheduling a script to either rsync or download this directory to my machine here.

Please don't hold back with the very simple commands, I need to learn from script start to finish.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the post stefanwagner, I have looked at scp and the -r option which will work great for downloading/uploading the files. I have started to make a little progress, if I could only get the public key to allow me in!
