Help!

When I right click on a folder and attempt to click on properties, nothing happends.

I want to restrict access to a particular folder, but can't get to the security tab.

However, if I right click on a file (verse a folder), I can access the properties and security settings.

Any reason I wouldn't be able to access folder properties???

Are you logged in as Administrator or a User?

If as a user, which folder(s) specifically?

I have tried to do this from both the administrator and user accounts.

As the administrator, I should be able to change user rights to folders, but like I say, when I right click and hit Properties, nothing happens.

Are you choosing "Sharing" after right-clicking on the folder?
The "Permissions" button is under "Sharing".

I had exactly the same problem. The problem appeared right after I installed Service Pack 1. I uninstalled Service Pack 1 and the problem was fixed. I have since then successfully reinstalled the service pack without the problem coming back. I can only guess that it did not install properly the first time.

I did as Whitemtntn suggested. Uninstalling SP1 did
uninstall the problem. However, when I re-installed
SP1, I re-installed the problem . . . again . . . :-(

There has to be a Reg setting that's getting munged.
Anyone have a clue which one?

When you reinstall sp1 if you are running an anti-virus disable it until the service pack is installed (try that)
