Some of my folders change how I view them after I visit the folder again. For instance, I change my download folder so that it is in view mode then when I come back to it, it is in thumbnail view. How do I get Windows to keep the settings I set? It does not happen to all folders just a couple. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You may have already tried this...if not [[Copied from Kelly's XP site:

Detail View for XP

1. In Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View/clear
"Restore Defaults" and "Reset all Folders".
2. Reboot
3. In Windows Explorer [Not "My Computer"] go to the View Tab and Reset the options you desire.
4. In Tools/Folder Options, "Do Not" enable "Remember Each Folder's View Settings".
5. Close the View Tab. Make sure the View is still as you would like it.
6. Then go to Tools/Folder Options/View/"Apply to All Folders". ]]

Sometimes windows XP forgets it's folder view settings.

Here is the solution.

Backup these RegKeys.

1:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU]

2:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags]

After that you must delete them.

Restart windows to take effect.

Now you can change each folder and the setting will stay.
