When I double click on a folder to open it, it opens up in search mode.
When right clicking on a folder the dropdown box has the search at the top of the list in bold letters.
Can you tell me how to revert it back open mode.

From Windows Explorer, select the TOOLS menu, then FOLDER OPTIONS. Click RESTORE DEFAULTS on both the GENERAL and VIEW tabs.

That should do the trick

Allan,

Yeh this was a problem for me for a while, til I found the following fix. Go to the following website:

From here click 'win xp fixes' in the left hand menu. Then click on the item 'Search/Command Prompt Opens When Double Clicking a Folder'. This will provide a link to the file 'folder_open.vbs' which when run will fix up your problem. Anti-virus software you have may prompt you before proceeding, but just go ahead with it. This script is safe to run.

This worked OK, thanks to all concerned.
