Folder dates mysteriously being modified on the server?

I noticed that on our Novell 4.11 server, that sets of folders would have a creation date that I knew was not the origial date that the folder was created, as if the folder was recopied. This happens about every few months. The files inside the folders will still have the orinal date.
We backup using Arcserve6 every buisness day. The server is using RAID configuration (of 5 scsi hard drives)

Does anybody know if there anything in the operation of Novell that could cause this?
