Hi, I am currently weighing the options of changing a MS Access database to FMP. I read on another post that a run-time application will not work over the network, leaving you to purchase indivdual copies of FMP7 for every terminal. If this is the case, I don't see the point of a run-time application (other than to sell) and the kiosk mode.

I don't want to learn the ins and outs of SQL, that's the reason I bought FMP7 Dev to see if it was any easier to develop things like this. My business has 4 locations and will have about 30-40 terminals to work with. .. are you telling me that i cannot work all these terminals into a network? Can somone please clerify for me the whole network/runtime thing?

Thanks.

Hi!
Runtime solutions are not for networking.
If you want to connect your offices you´ll need as many licenses of FM. But i recommend you to buy a server as well so that speed and backup´s improve.

You would not normally use a runtime for your own shop. It is really designed to sell or distribute in odd situations.
You could use FMP Server on one machine and have all your workstations access the DB on the server. BUT you do need licences for each workstation - as is normal for most software.

Cheers,
Paul J.
