I am trying to run filemaker server on a win2000 machine, if i move all the database files to the filemaker server directory everything seems to work as planned, but in the command prompt section of the server it appears that you can open files to run with fm server but dont have to have them in the directory, i tried a couple different commands to get it to run this way but it wouldnt take..just woundering what i was doing wrong..here is what i tried to type in the command promt
c:\fmserver open [c:\dir.\database]
c:\fmserver open [c:\dir.\database.fm5]
and c:\ fmserver open [dir.\database] everyone of them had the same effect when i tried to open the file the user was notified that they would be the host of the file. is there something that i am missing or is the only way to use fm sever is to have all files in the fm server directory..thanks very much in advance...

Place a shortcut to the database files (or folder they are located in) in the FM Server directory. Then when FM Server starts up, it will automatically open this databases.

Hope that Helps
John
