Hi All,

My company deals with individuals and with groups of individuals from specific employers. However, it is important to record the employer for all individuals.
Therefore I have 2 files - clients & employers.
After entering the individual's data (name, address email, etc) then I want to search the company file, to check if the company is already on file, and then link a person to a company (or the company to the person?).
The reason is - that there should only be one entry for each company, linked to one or many individuals.
At the moment I'm stuck on how to do this, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi, OzBill.
Put the Company Name in the Client file. Use a relationship from Client to Company. Display something from the Company file and if this is not empty, your Company is already there.
Alternatively, use the 'create new records' option in your relationship and it will add a new Company when necessary (i.e. not there already), otherwise it won't.
HTH

Cheers,
Paul J.
