flyout menu from image map

Hi

I havent done any javascript/DHTML for a while and with CSS and firefox/safari/ie compatibility things seem much harder to find!

Basically I would like to achieve this effect

The About WALTHAM is an image (could be a separate image or use an image map) which on mouse hover should produce a cross-browser compatible dropdown menu as in the pic. Text here would be html. This would be the only menu needed.

I have tried hacking a few different scripts but to no avail. I guess this really is quite simple to do but my knowledge of javascript is quite basic!

Any help is very appreciated!!
