floppy problem

hello there a probelm has occured just like that, first the floppy went dead thought the floppy went bad so went out got another one and same problem
My Computer The disk in drive A is not formatted when i ask it to do it another message pops up windows could not format this disk either the selected capacity is not valid for this disk or the disk is damaged and may need to be replaced. (i done check disk trust me nothing is wrong with disks all are new and formatted)
called up manufacturer they told me to go in dos etc and A: and see if we can get to the disk drive not than i was told drive bad fine went to the shop exchange for a new one same problem the only other thing i am concerned about is the cable but will change that too but have done in the mean time, i have removed from the control panel> system> device manager the disk controller and the disk drive and let windows install every thing all over still no joy somebody please help the system is old one using pentium 133 and the os is win98 80mb ram c & d drive master and slave and cd rom is secondary master thats about it really please note i am not very advanced with computers and hence would like info in plain english please many thanks malik

Check in BIOS (setup prior to boot) and verify that the drive type is correct. Ed Fair

Check your floppy drive...
Sometimes the floppy cable inside the computer is disconnected...
