Hello.
I'm trying to repair an old Packard Bell for my Uncle. It is running W95. When booting the mouse is detected, but doesn't show up when OS is loaded. In device manager the PS/2 mouse port shows a problem as does the sound card. I disabled the sound card but still no mouse. The computer was working until my Uncle tried to install a CD Rom drive from an old Sony Vaio.
I was going to boot to a startup disk and reformat the HDD and found that the floppy drive doesn't work. The floppy is detected but machine won't boot to it and when I try to read a floppy in Explorer, it says drive not accessible. Tried another cable and another floppy drive that I know works. The suspect floppy works in another computer. At this point I'm suspecting the floppy controller and the MB. Any ideas? Thanks.
