Floppy Disk not Recognized in Clean Install"

I am attempting a clean installation of Windows XP on a new disk. I have 3rd party drivers to install but the system at this step

fails to recognize the floppy drive. At least it fails to respond to the F6 > S > 'Insert ... floppy disk ...' sequence. The drive

is required for the floppy disks on which the drivers are located.

Is there a way around this, putting them on a CD or USB since some computers are coming now without floppy disks.

BTW the floppy drives works with an Alt. Boot using Win 2K Pro

Thanks!

What sort of Keyboard are you using, is it USB or Wireless?

You May Be Unable to Access the Windows Advanced Options Menu When You Use a USB Keyboard

See if there is any settable option in the Bios or try an older type Keyboard if you have one.

The keyboard is the likely culprit NOT sending the F6 signal, but also be aware of this. It makes a difference if you are using a USB floppy vs. a built-in floppy drive.

Not all usb external floppy drives are supported by XP installation. There's a list somewhere if you look for it. Not much need to get one that doesn't come off the approved list.
