Hi Seanbo,

I just want to understand which kind of window you are talking about since there are so many that fit that description. Are you talking about the typical popover which has the recognizable fram from the web browser you use and can be clicked off. Or, are you talking about those annoying "bandaids" that are not framed by any part of the webbrowser and appear to stick to the page even when you scroll up or down? Or, is this some new thing I have missed?

Best,

disfasia

i think i mean something more like the "bandaids", though i've not heard that term before. the objects don't appear on the task bar, don't have the usual title bar all control boxes of a regular top level windows form, and aren't a html frame. they can normally be closed down by clicking a button on them; the button also being an object within the swf.

Usually a transparent .swf, set on a higher division within the html. Works best only with IE.

do you mean to say that the fact that these floating objects are swfs is bye-the-vye, and that the code to produce these is acually seperate from flash, and embedded in the html?

if so, which forum to i need to ask this question on?

It's usually a transparent .swf embedded in a higher division, within the html of the whole site.

what is this 'higher division' you speak of?

In fact these are flash movies just like usual.
The difference is that they are not embedded in the html-site as you would do normally but they are placed on a html-layer and their backgrounds are set to transparent using the "wmode" tag in the html-code:

Sorry, I ran to eat and missed the action. But I made up the term "bandaid"... :)

from now on, the term 'bandaid' will describe a swf on a html layer with it's wmode tag set to transparent.

sucks to you, 'america`s number 1 adhesive bandage'.
