How do you get certain frames to load upon request?

i.e. frames 1-40, when someone clicks on one of the twenty available buttons, frame 24 appears with a loading bar and just frame 25 is loading and appears once completely loaded.

I can create a preloader for the whole movie, but can't work out how to get it load in non-linear fashion, unless I split it up into twenty or so different movies. Is there any way I can do that?

You can't. You can theorically start a movie playing when only 1 or a few frames are loaded, but once initiated, a preload will continue whether you like it or not. The only way to stop it is to close the browser.

Can I get different scenes to load separately, putting the frames I want to load in different scenes? i.e. having twenty or so scenes and load them upon request?

Or is the best way to do it to have lots of different movies inserted into an html page or frames page and load them upon request?

Same thing with scenes! Once initiated, the preload can't be stopped. Use external .swfs, loaded upon request froma main interface movie.
