Fletch,

I read your post mentioning the registration of IP sets with TN 0-0-0-0. I have this working with 5.00 with the CS and SS patch loaded. Just wondering how emergency calls are made from these sets, as the sets seem unusable until you log in with a valid Virtual Office login??
Also is it long before the patch is available on 5.50??

Original Post

"There is a new feature that is being tested for 5.50 (it's available for 5.00) that allows many phones register to TN 0-0-0-0.

This allows you to have a phone with NO TN CONFIG attached tot he system. Emergency calls are available to this phone, as well as Virtual Office login. This eliminates the need to have licenses for phones that remain in a logged out state."

What would you program the TN as on 0-0-0-0 to allow this ?

You need to have VOLO set up properly to map a VOLO TN to those sets.

There is a special patch that allows this behavior. You do not enter a NODE or TN, and the set automatically registers to the S1/S2 as Node 0000 and TN 0-0-0-0

To answer your second question, I have the 5.50 patch in my lab, and have asked for a few tweaks regarding ESA interactions. Should be soon. All of the operations I tested seemed OK at first glance. I just didn't like the way an ERL was assigned with an external LIS. There was no issue with the Internal LIS (PKG 336).

There is another related patch that deals with the ERL value being hard coded, but ignored on a VO login. To be honest, the interaction was never clearly stated in the original test cases. It was assumed that a LIS would be present. That patch will have some interaction with the TN0-0-0-0 patch, so we need to bake this fairly well to make sure the ESA interactions are clean and clearly documented for any anomalies.

For example there is one already on a phone (fresh out of the box) that is registered to TN 0-0-0-0 and makes a 911 call before ANY VO login. Since that phone has NEVER been discovered, it will get LD 24 DFCL handling. Once it has been discovered, the location cookie will be cached, and the CS 1000 will honor that location on a VOLO registration.

Geez! Remember when 911 used to be just 3 digits you built as an SPN?! Ahh the good old days, but then again, that keeps me in a job!
