MY
i recently been attacked by this trojan flashkiller.b virus... i dont know if this is the cause of my harddisk full.
by using several antivirus, i have already resolved the virus matters.
However there is some folder that consume several Gigabytes which is totally unnessary (unknown source) cannot be deleted. i have also tried several ways to delete it.. but still not working out..
Can any of you ppl tell me whats the cause of this and how to delete it.
I have not more than 18 hours to relsove this matter.. trust me it can save my boss 16k sor the whole new server.. which i think not nessasary at all...
help me pls

Tried several ways? Tried from command prompt?
How about checking its properties to see if it is read only? Try renaming it then deleting it.

thanks for ur quick reply

Command Prompt?.. yes.. i've tried that...
It is not file.. its folder containing no files in it (i've also unhide)
renaming.. yess some of it can be renamed but some cant...
though i renamed the folder name.. it still cant be deleted...
some of the properties list 0 byte of this folder...
some hanky panky is happening...

what to do next..? any force delete?

Try disconnecting the server from the network. Then log in as admin, take ownership of the folder and force the permissions down through all the directories. Then you should be able to delete the folder/files.

Is this server connected to the internet? Do you have a firewall?

Download of a trojan scanner that is supposed to completely remove the trojan.

Link to an article from M$ on deleting a file by force.

In the meantime, you can try doing a CTRL+ALT+DEL and close all programs EXCEPT Explorer and Systray. When you have closed all the programs, then try deleting this file. Right click on the file/icon and select Delete.

F-prot is a free utility on the internet. Down-load it onto a cd, then start up with a start-up disk and enable floppy drive support. You can run the virus scan without loading the OS. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson
