Flashing MWI on Single Line Phone

Anyone have any ideas as to why the MWI led would be flashing on a single line phone when there are no messages assigned to that extension in the VM system? I have tried to manually turn of the indicator by #*53 but it still flashes.
 
do you have an DSS console check your message status light
 
do you have a DSS console, check your sending message notification station light on it
 
You did not indicate the voice mail system, but on Audix you can fix the problem by dialing the extension, leave a voice message, then access the mail box, delete message and the light will clear.
 
Don't have a DSS on this switch.

We are using Audix. I left a message for the subscriber to delete. By using the System Monitor, I noticed that Audix sends the #*53[ext] to turn off the MWI. Which is the same thing I did manually.
 
Yep, same experience here. Sometimes cannot manually clear the light and have to resort to inserting and deleting a "real" voicemail so that Audix can clean house. We see this once or twice a month (almost 300 users).
