Guys
I have a requirement of reducing oracle offline backup time from 6 hours to few minutes and for this i am planning to use IBM Flashcopy option on DS4800!!
Currently two AIX 5.2 nodes running Oracle RAC with raw lvs configuration. Solution will include another new node with AIX 5.3 , as a backup node only.
We will stop Oracle RAC as normal for backups, take flash copy and mount target flashcopy drive on new backup server.Later on Rman configured on backup server will take backup normally to tape cartridges?
Do you think any hidden technically issues in this solution?
Anybody really using flashcopy with raw lvs ?
I have to forcefully varyonvg of flashcopied drive on backup server ( using varyonvg -f or -b etc ).
As backup solution is veritas , so i will ask question for out veritas guys as well that whether veritas client can take backup from raw lvs ( in case we dont use rman for offline backups only ).
Any suggestions/comments from AIX,storage/veritas guys are wellcome
Thanks
