which is better for programming a book onto cd?
after the opening animated sequence I need to show text and pictures - be able to zoom on pictures, and print. (for mass market use)

For CD development you would be best to go with Director.
You'll find that you'll have more options when making a CD, and programming it will be much easier. Flash is really only good for web publishing.
