Has anyone seen a way of creating a flash visualization tool, like that in winamp?

This is possible, but only with the new SoundMixer.computeSpectrum() class in AS3. I've not played with this at all yet, although have seen some examples knocking around, I think it basically takes snapshots of the soundwave and assembles these in a 512 floating-point value ByteArray (256 for left and right) I also understand that, due to the nature of these snapshots, this will only work with passive stream and not RTMP.
You will obviously require F9 to achieve this.

Let me know hwo you get on, am interested to see some experimentation with thsi class. I think there will be some really cool stuff popping up as the rollout of F9 continues.

Thanks for your advice. I'll do some more research, but it seems that the computeSpectrum() function was designed specifically for this purpose! Cool, thanks.
