I have a customer with 2 Legend R3 systems connected with point to point T-1 (using 100D cards). They currenty have to use a trunk access code to connect to the T-1 TIE trunks coming from the other system, then they can dial an extension number. I know that with R6.?? or higher, I can program UDP.

Any issues with the flash upgrade from an R3 to an R7?
I will NOT be trying to install any of the 16 port station cards, as I understand you need to have a CKE4 porcessor to be able to use those cards. Neither of the processors are CKE4.

Thanks!

I've flashed a CKE3 up to Magix with no negative effects other than certain modules not working correctly (016 MLX, 016 ETR, 024 TDL). If you're not changing the configuration of your system then flashing up to R7 would probably work fine. If the feature you're looking to use is available I'd recommend only upgrading to R6.1.

is there a problem upgrading to the 7.0142 release. what are the issues in the r7 upgrade.

If you flash a CKE3 up to R7 only half the extension ports on a 016MLX or 016ETR module will work. That's why I recommend only going as high as R6.1 on a CKE3. A CKE4 or higher won't have this problem.

I believe the difference is Lucent added more RAM to the cke4 board to allow room for the larger capacity 016mlx and other boards. cke3 doesn't have the same memory capacity. If you don't use those boards you are ok. R6.1 does the networking just fine, so if you can get to there you won't see any problems cause it won't use the 016mlx or etr cards anyway.
Hope that explains the diff.
