Flash to JPEG?

Is there a way to dynamically create a JPEG image of the swf stage? Say, for a user making ecards or something.

sounds tricky but maybe if you save your screen as a series of data (xml?) and send it to a server side script (PHP, ASP etc) to write the image file (jpg or whatever) by reading the data you pass from Flash.

I came across this

but it uses ASP. I am just trying to convert it to PHP.

But this example seems pretty slick so far.

it does look slick and achieves the effect as i suspected it might.

doesnt look too hard to convert to php. the asp is well documented and just replacing the asp functions with straight php ought to get you close.

there is a flash-php group on yahoo that is good. i always go there with php problems and responses are fast and accurate.
