Hello all,

Does any one have experience on using an Oracle 10.2.0.3 flash recovery area to restore a database onto another server?

Here's the scenario/info:
Windows 2003 server platform
Oracle 10.2.0.3.0

I have a flash recovery area on a production database server with an instance called 'prod'. I have a different server (hardware) where an instance exists with the same name of 'prod'.

Will copying over the contents of the flash_recovery_area from prod server to dev server work for recovery?

Many examples I'm finding are for flash recovery on the same server and I'm wondering if the move to a different server changes things.
Thanks!

Flash recovery area does not contain copy of the database but it may or may not contain the archive logs.

To duplicate the database use rman utility.
