flash player plugin corrupt

we have attempted to install flash player for IE and it has been unsuccessful. The plugin does not show in IE and flash pages don't play!
We've reinsatlled the latest version of flash but still the same.
We did a reinstall of IE but still the same.
When we installed Opera browser everything works fine!
Anyone had this problem and can you suggest anything else we could try as it's driving us nuts!

You could reformat your HDD, reinstall a clean build of Windows, and go from there. Drastic, maybe... but it's a solution that is virtually guaranteed to work.
