I am constructing a standard website with Flash elements, inparticular a Flash menu that opens a webpage in an inline frame within a layer. Is this a good or bad idea? Are there viable non-frameset alternatives.

If it is possible, how do I address the webpage within the Flash menu in such a way that the webpage opens up within the inline frame (within the layer)??

I'm not very optimistic, as Dreamweaver doesn't support inline frames, so why would Flash? But if there is an answer, I would be very appreciative.

HOW TO
Name the frames, and pass the name of the frame, that the page is to open in, to the getURL(). It should work as long as the names are consistant.

SHOULD YOU
No. You should NEVER use flash for navigation of an HTML page. People without the flash plugin are then stranded on the index page. The only time it would be proper, would be if you have a Frameless, Layerless and Flash free version as well. Flash is a powerful tool, but not everyone can veiw it... cell phones, pdas and text only browsers...
