I understand that you need to use php/asp or something like that to get data into flash and I assume these run on a web server. But how do you read from a database into flash if your movie runs on a CD and not on the web at all?

Any help would be really good!!!

Try a combination of Flash and XML. A few of the guys around this forum are fluent with that combo.

Hi there !
I think you have 2 choices, depending on your database size

1) convert your data into xml, and build some logic with ActionScript to navigate on the xml file

2) there was an independent web server application from Microsoft, which could run on a cd for example. The problem is that I can't remember the exact filename. But it is on MSDN if u have a subscription, else search on their website. I'll search my archive of messages from the lists and let u know if I find anything.

Anyway I think the best way is by using xml...

Thanks to both of you for the replies.

My database has around 1000 records (including pictures) so is XML still a possibility? Never really used XML before so I wouldn't know.

I'll have a look around microsnot's website to see if I can find anything else.

Thanks again,

LeBodge.

Thanks for all your help and here, have yourself a nice shiny star
