I created a simple animation movie clip for the flash project. When I
preview it in the movie clip everything is fine, but when I drag it out onto
the stage and then test the movie it looks really different! Is there
something I might be doing wrong?

For one my text doesn't fade in and out, and some of my text should be at 50% alpha but it is at 100%. Text should wrap in places, but it doesn't.

The fading problem sounds like a dynamic text field which hasn't been embedded - it'll work in the authoring environment but not in the player when it's published. You can embed the font in the text properties panel in MX under 'character'. Likewise with the wrapping - you have to select 'multiline' from the dropdown box in the panel.

my text has been converted to graphic symbols. So everything that is text is setup as a graphic symbol in the library. Maybe I did it wrong?

Did you break the text apart (done with ctrl+B or break apart in the modify menu) before you converted them to graphic symbols? If so then it would be very strange for them not to fade as you expect.

But if the text was turned into symbols without being broken apart then you still need to edit the symbol and either break it apart or embed the font so that it will show properly.

Try this out and if it doesn't work you can email me your fla and I'll see if I can see what's happening.
