Flash Hit Counter with no Back End

Greetings All!

I'm looking for hit counter that uses no backend (cgi, perl, CF, ASP, or JSP). I know I can use a Java applet, but they're really slow. I was curious if any has ever used Flash or Javascript without a backend for a successful hit counter.

I'm really interested in using Flash, I know Flash can read a file, but can it write to it?
