I have recently installed Flash 5 on my NT workstation, and I seem to have a problem with Button Symbols. I can create and edit Button Symbols and paste instances in my movies, but if the button has a keyframe, when I try to test it or publish it, my Flash crashes (I get a Dr Watson box). Can anybody help me?

What do you mean by "...but if the button has a keyframe"?

Thanks oldnewbie. What I mean is that if the button only has something in the "Up" state it does not crash, but as soon as I add anything to the "Over", "Down" or "Hit" state, when I try to test the movie or to publish it, it crashes flash and generates an error log.

(Sorry if I don't use the right terminology but I'm a new Flash user...)

I guess that must be a conflict but I don't see with what.

Can you post a test .fla or send it to me via e-mail:

I've just emailed you a test.fla which is the simplest I can think of: one button symbol that changes fill when moused over. When I try to test or to publish it gets stuck on "Exporting Flash Player" and crashes immediately.

Thanks so much for your help.

Waiting for the e-mail...
Meanwhile, does this happen when opening any other .fla (not your own) that contain buttons in them?

Yes your door.fla crashes, as well as other .fla containing buttons (including the ones that come with the tutorial).
Re-install... I hate this word.
Thanks for your help anyway!
